Dear Reader,

News

Welcome to the first edition of my photography newsletter!

I've been busy updating my site with all my old photos, so there's plenty of new content to browse. I'm continually improving the website and online ordering is now available.

I'm currently in Canada for the ski season and will be heading to Europe in May so there should be some exciting new photos to look out for in the coming months.

Photography Tips

Over the last few years I've learnt a lot about different aspects of creating a good photograph.

The knowledge is a double-edged sword, as I now have a million things rushing through my mind when standing behind the camera, whereas before I was much more relaxed and still came back with shots I was happy with. At the end of the day, learning some techniques behind the art will improve your photographs.

My first tip is to take some time out to experiment with the manual settings on your camera. If you go out with your camera and its manual for even half an hour and play with aperture priority, shutter priority, + and - AE (auto-exposure), and white balance, you'll start to understand how these different settings affect the photo. Being more comfortable with these settings will allow you to get the results you want, rather than suffering when your camera's auto setting misinterprets the scene.

Thank you for taking an interest in my photography,

Sean Hasselback
